"My visit to Texas Tech was good," Chris told us.
Since Roberson is a deep snapper, his situation will be a little different than the typical recruit, who is usually offered a scholarship and signs a letter of intent out of high school.
"I will be a preferred walk-on and redshirt my freshman year. The coaches told me, 'After that, a scholarship is yours.'"
What was it about Lubbock that made Chris' decision so easy?
"Well, for one, my grandparents live in Midland, so I'll have family nearby. Also, the campus was impressive."
The clincher, however, may have been Roberson's family ties to the Red Raiders.
"Both of my parents graduated from Tech, and my sister goes there now."
We also spoke with Chris Rubio , who rusn one of the premiere kicking academies in the country and has seen Roberson in action.
Rubio has a lot of confidence in Roberson's abilities and feels that he'll be a great addition to Texas Tech.
"He's really smooth. He's one of those kids that when he is on, he in very on," Rubio enthused. "When he snaps he football, the ball has a lot of pop to it."
Rubio also noted that Chris, a team captain for Katy High School, has the personal characteristics to be a leader on the team.
"He's just a good kid," Rubio said.
