RaiderPower.com caught up with the talented wideout to find out what he thinks of the Red Raiders.
"Texas Tech is high on my list," James told us. "My top three right now are Texas Tech, LSU, and USC.
"The things I like about Texas Tech are their acadmeics and their offensive scheme."
All-American WR Michael Crabtree's spectacular collegiate career also has to do with James' interst in the Red Raiders.
"Texas Tech caught my eye early on because if they can produce a guy like Michael Crabtree then they obviously know what they're doing.
"He's a special player, but it had something to do with the coaching because they put him in the situation to be successful. They're a passing school too, and any receiver would like that."
Wright, who was named to Louisiana's Class 4-A All-State squad, says that he plans to visit LSU this weekend to learn more about the Tigers, and a trip to Lubbock is in the works as well.
"I'm definitely going to visit Lubbock. I'm planning on going out there during my spring break, probably April 13 or 14."
James tells us that his interest in the Red Raiders is definitely reciprocated by the coaching staff at Tech, as they were the first school to offer him a scholarship and have been keeping in close contact ever since.
"I'm hearing from them a lot. They seem very interested in me."
For now, Wright is taking things a day at a time and does not have a definite time frame for making his final decision. It appears, however, that the Red Raiders are in a good position to land this talented athlete if everything falls into place.
