Trent Spurgeon Impressed with Texas Tech

In the past few years, Texas Tech has built a reputation for turning out some of the top offensive linemen in the Big 12. With that success, recruits from around the country have taken notice, and the Red Raiders are in contention for some of the most talented big men in the nation. 4-star OT Trent Spurgeon just returned from his trip to Texas Tech, and has the latest on his trip.

Owasso, Oklahoma offensive tackle Trent Spurgeon is one of the best offensive linemen in the class of 2010. has ranked Spurgeon in as a 4-star prospect and included him on their top 300 list.

The 6'7", 270 pound tackle has attracted recruiting interest from around the country, with offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU, and Arizona.

Trent came to town this weekend to check out Texas Tech and see what the Red Raiders are all about. He left impressed with both the football program and the school.

"My visit went good. I liked what I saw. I really liked the coaches and campus," Trent told us.

Was his experience enough to get Texas Tech into contention for landing his verbal commitment?

"As of now, my top three are Texas Tech, Arizona, and SMU."

Spurgeon says that he does not yet have a commitment date, but that he will also be taking visits to some of the other schools he's interested in.

"I am planning on visiting Arizona this summer. I have a track meet in Lawrence this weekend, so I'll visit Kansas then."

Trent says the main factors that he will take into account when making his final decision will be how he fits in with the players and coaches.

In addition to his athletic prowess, Spurgeon boasts a 3.99 GPA.
