Red Raiders Extend New WR Offer

As Texas Tech's reputation has grown over the past few years, the Red Raider coaching staff has been to recruit heavily out-of-state in places like Tennessee, Florida, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. They continued that trend last week when the offered one of the best wide receivers in Florida. Come inside for the latest on Texas Tech's newest offer…

O.J. Ross out of Mainland High School (Daytona Beach, FL) is one of the fastest receivers in the state, and schools around the country are beginning to take notice.

Already holding offers from Michigan, Arkansas, Central Florida, and Florida International, Ross got big news last week when he heard from two other suitors who have been in hot pursuit.

"Ole Miss and Texas Tech just offered me," Ross said.

The 5'10", 176 lb. Ross, who showed off his blazing speed by recording a 4.36 40-time at Orlando's combine in March, saw his recruiting stock shoot through the roof following his outstanding performance.

Of his exceptional run, O.J. explained, "It was great to do that in front of everyone. I've run a 4.32 before, but I knew I could put up a real good time."

Kentucky, South Carolina, and Florida are all showing the speedy wide out a lot of interest, and there's sure to be a laundry list of other schools that will join the fray before it's all said and done.

For now, Ross says that he is considering two main factors.

"Academics and the overall program are important. Location doesn't matter."

O.J. finished his junior season with 34 catches, 694 yards, and ten touchdowns.

Stay tuned to as we'll bring you more on Ross' reaction to his offer from Texas Tech.
