Polk Talks about Commitment to Tech

The Red Raiders landed a big commitment over the weekend from Dallas Carter High School safety Russell Polk. The 5'11, 200 pound defender is excited to be another addition to a very good recruiting class that Texas Tech is putting together. Come inside for the latest on Polk.

Russell Polk has been a long time fan of the Red Raiders. Once he received his offer he knew that Tech was the place for him and committed shortly thereafter.

"It's a school I've wanted to play for since I've been playing football. I'm really excited that they offered me. Once they offered, I knew that's where I wanted to be."

It's always beneficial for recruits to visit campus and Polk has already made a trip over to Lubbock once He also plans on making another visit to Tech in the near future.

"I visited Lubbock a couple of years ago, and I plan on visiting either this summer or during the season."

Is this the end of the road for Polk, or will he still consider other schools?

"I'm also still considering Nebraska and will take an official visit there at some point. Tech will be hard to beat out though."

Class of 2009 commit Jarvis Phillips, who is a senior at Dallas Carter, played a big role in Polk's commitment.

"He actually broke the news to me that Tech offered. He told me it was a good school and he was happy that we would be playing together."

Last season, the versatile defensive back had 4 interception and 72 tackles.
