New WR Offer Extended

Texas Tech is already looking toward their 2011 recruiting class. Friday they extended an offer to one of the most talented wide receivers in the South. Come inside to find out who it is...

The Red Raiders extended one of their first offers for the 2011 class to Greenville, SC wide receiver Hakeem Flowers.

"Hakeem just received another offer from Texas Tech today courtesy of coach Simmons," Flowers' father explained.

Flowers in fact was participating in a scrimmage against Pickens High on Friday and we got some tidbits as just to how he performed in limited action.

"He didn't play a whole lot because coach just wanted to get his feet wet so to say a little bit. He ended up with maybe 4 or 5 catches for 100 yards."

Flowers, who is 6'3", 180 pounds, is one of the best prospects in South Carolina, and the Red Raiders took notice early.

"The coaches were telling us a lot about their offense. They work from a spread and sometimes have 5 wide receivers in some of their sets. It's definitely something that really has Hakeem and myself interested in.

"They also talked with how much success they had with Michael Crabtree who just got drafted into the NFL, so that's something else that's pretty interesting to look at about Texas Tech. We really like them."

The offer brings Flowers' list of offers up to six: Texas Tech, Florida State, Maryland, Auburn, North Carolina, and Syracuse.
