Bellaire OL Commits to Tech

Matt Grisell (6'5, 285) of Bellaire Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas orally committed to play football for the Red Raiders last weekend. Grisell, who was Daniel Loper's freshman at Bellaire, is expected to play Offensive Tackle for Tech, but has the ability to play Offensive Guard as well.

"The things that impressed me the most were the facilities and just how nice everybody was.  I really liked the campus, and being friends with Loper helped my decision out too."

Grisell, a tall and powerful Lineman with quick feet, said he is working out four days a week and is considering playing baseball in the spring.  He was recruited by Oklahoma State, Colorado State, and Louisiana Tech, but said, "I just really liked my visit to Tech.  Coach Anae is a really nice guy, and I liked a lot of what he had to say, so last Sunday, I called them up and gave them a solid verbal."

On the phone, Grisell comes across as a very articulate and focused young man.  In Texas, private schools are not recruited that heavily; thus, many talented players like Loper and Grisell do not get as much attention as their talents should demand.  The Red Raiders really got a steal here.
