Porter Gets it Done on Both Ends of the Field

RaiderPower.com evaluates 18th commitment for the class of 2010, Carl Albert High School cornerback Tre'Vante Porter. Porter plays on both offense and defense for the Trojans and will be a valuable asset to the Red Raiders.

Carl Albert CB Tre'Vante Porter is a dangerous athlete on both sides of the football and a huge addition to the Red Raiders' 2010 recruiting class. At 6'0", 180 pounds, Porter has the size to play wide receiver, cornerback, or safety for the Red Raiders. With 4.4-40 speed, Tre has the speed to make an impact at whatever position he plays.

Defensively, Porter is effective at locking up receivers as well as getting into the backfield to disrupt quarterbacks and running backs on blitz packages. A solid tackler who knocks opponents back when he wraps up, Tre finished his junior season with 96 tackles, one sack, and four interceptions.

Porter's talents are best showcased when he is defending against the pass. His ability to make a play on the ball when it's up in the air is a huge upside for the cornerback, who has returned interceptions for touchdowns on numerous occasions.

On the offensive side of the ball, Porter plays wideout and has soft hands and good separation. Once he gets into the open field, he has the speed to take the ball all the way to the end zone. His size and strength allow him to wrestle balls that are up for grabs away from defenders.

Porter also sees the field as blocker on special teams for Carl Albert High, who finished last season with a record of 12-2 and as the state runners-up in Oklahoma's Division 5A.
