Boone Loved Visit to Raiderland

4-star Florida wide receiver Kadron Boone visited Lubbock over the weekend to watch the Red Raiders' season opener against North Dakota. Boone, who committed to Texas Tech in August without ever visiting the South Plains, was extremely impressed with everything he saw and says the trip solidified that his decision was the right one.

Growing up in SEC country, Kadron Boone never dreamed he would attend college and play football on the dusty plains of West Texas. But when the Red Raiders extended a scholarship offer, the 4-star wide receiver out of Ocala, Florida was intrigued by their high scoring, pass heavy offense. After learning more about the burgeoning football program lead by head coach Mike Leach, Boone knew he had found a great fit for his skills and committed before ever visiting the South Plains.

Over the weekend, Kadron made the trek from Florida to Lubbock for an official visit and walked away feeling even more solid in his decision to become a Red Raider.

"The visit went real good. It couldn't have gone any better," Boone enthused. "I thought the game went well. Just everything about the visit was good."

Boone, who developed a strong relationship with WR coach Lincoln Riley during his recruitment, said he had a chance to meet the players and coaches during his visit.

"I think I fit in perfectly [at Texas Tech]."

The raucous atmosphere at the game was also impressive to Kadron, who didn't have much experience with Big 12 football.

"The game atmosphere was crazy," Kadron said.

Boone, who helped lead his Trinity Catholic Celtics to a 2B state championship last season, is one of the top receivers in the South and already possess the size and speed to compete for playing time at the D-I level.

Despite holding offers from big time programs including Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma, Boone says that for now he does not plan on taking any other visits. He is very happy with his decision and says that he feels even more confident in his decision to become a Red Raider.
