Tech Commits Looking Around?

While Texas Tech fans are eager to find out who their next coach will be, the current recruiting class is even more anxious. With less than a month until signing day, several recruits have made plans to look at other options. Come inside for the latest.

After particpating in the Under Armour All-America game last week, Florida WR Kadron Boone talked with's Mike Bakas.

"I'm still committed and I'm going to see what happens by this weekend," he said. "I wanna see what Texas Tech decides to do and then I'll decide where to go from there."

"If I were to look at other schools I have a few in mind," he said. "They are LSU, Louisville, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, and West Virginia."

Boone has scheduled an official visit to Louisville for this weekend.

I talked with DBTre Porter recently to find out what his status is in regards to his commitment to Texas Tech. Porter has said that with the firing of Mike Leach, he is now looking at other options.

Porter, who was recently offered by OU, said, "I have to see who the new coach will be before I sign with [Texas Tech]."

He says that if interim head coach Ruffin McNeill is hired, he plans on sticking with his commitment. If another head coach is hired, he says he will "get to know him and look into other schools." If Ruffin is retained as the defensive coordinator and another head coach is hired, Tre will evaluate the situation and make a decision at that time.

The other schools he is considering are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Arizona.

Despite reports that he is considering decommiting, RB Delans Griffin told me that Griffin stated that he is still planning on signing with Texas Tech and that his recruitment "will still go well after how they played in the bowl game without [Leach]."
