When former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach was let go by the University, most Red Raider fans expected some problems on the recruiting trail. The sudden shake up has several recruits looking around and one of them decided to decommit. RaiderPower has the latest.

Tennessee LB Fred Harvey committed to Texas Tech back in September, but with recent shake up in the Red Raider coaching staff, he has changed his mind.

"At first I didn't want to leave to go somewhere so far from home, but then I got so used to the coaching staff that I thought it would make the transition easier. Now that the coaches aren't there anymore, distance is back in the picture."

Harvey's decision isn't a reflection on Coach Tuberville, but more of just the timing of everything.

"The new coach might be a good coach; I don't know. I just don't want to take that chance, especially this close to signing day. My recruiting coordinator Dennis Simmons is still there, but I don't know, something just felt off. I had gotten really close with Coach Ruff and they let him go."

Harvey has always done things the right way, and when he decided to change his college destination, the first thing he did was called Texas Tech to let them know.

"I spoke to coach Dennis Simmons. I told him I was decommitting. I told him I talked to my family about it. He supported what I wanted to do. He understood I committed to the previous staff. He knew where I was coming from."

With Texas Tech now out of the picture, there are 2 schools that are at the top of Harvey's list.

"I just got back from a visit to Memphis, and I've got a visit set up to Louisville on Friday. Those are the main two in the picture right now. I don't know if anybody else will call, but Louisville and Memphis are the highest on my list right now."
