Tuberville Goes After Florida RB

It didn't take long for Coach Tuberville and his staff to start chasing new recruits. Just recently, one of the most productive running backs in the state of Florida has been hearing from Texas Tech. RaiderPower has the latest.

Brandon Gainer has been one of the most productive running backs in south Florida over the last two seasons and he's getting a late start on the recruiting process.

"I'm about to start taking my visits," Gainer said. "I'm going to North Carolina this weekend and then UCF next weekend. I have one set to Southern Miss on Wednesday of next week but now Texas Tech has started recruiting me so I'll probably be going there on those days instead."

Gainer, 6-feet and 205 pounds, had things narrowed down to two before another school entered the mix.

"I was pretty much between UCF and North Carolina until Texas Tech came into the picture," he said. "They have a new coaching staff and I like their style. They need a big back to come in there and play."

The standout running back also likes what he sees with the two others.

"UCF has been recruiting me hard all along and a few of my teammates are committed there," he said. "They came by for a visit today (Thursday). Butch Davis from North Carolina is coming next week. I know they have a lot of tradition there and I've heard good things so I'll be going to check them out this weekend."

Gainer has a plan of attack as far as making a final decision and he talked about it.

"I'll have about three or four days after my UCF visit to myself," he said. "I'll be able to sit down and compare the three schools and figure out which one is best for me."

Gainer talked about what he'll be looking for in choosing a school.

"Tradition is big and my overall comfort level," he said. "Will there be people around to help me be successful? And I wanna go where I feel like part of a family."
