Morning Raider - 8/3

Wake up, get your Texas Tech cup of joe and see what is coming up next on

My coffee mug picture on the site is getting boring so I want to open it up to the fans to send me a picture of their coffee mug to be featured on's Morning Raider. Email me a shot of your Texas Tech mug to and be sure to include your username. I'll try to run a new one every two days or so.

-Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville now has 17 commitments in his 2011 class after Deandre Washington verbally committed to the Red Raiders yesterday following his visit to Lubbock.

That means there are around three or four more scholarships left to give to the incoming class for next year.

Tech could still take more commitments than scholarships but would be forced to make sure that some kids would be willing to "grey shirt" their first year and go without a scholarship until the next season.

The Red Raiders' 2011 class is currently ranked No. 15 overall in's rankings (tied with Florida State) but be sure to check back over the next couple of days as the new player rankings come out.

- We are now just four days from Tech's opening fall practice and we will begin the countdown by taking a look at all three sides of the ball plus part two of my interview with Baron Batch. Check out the Batch interview tonight and then stay tuned for the team breakdowns through Saturday.

- writers Greg Powers and Ahmad Vital weigh in on Tech's latest commitments with their scouting reports and be sure to check out a special column from Steve Pitts over the next couple of days.

- You will continue to get more content as the season begins with our exclusive agreement with Fox Sports. Check out for the latest rankings on the Big 12 quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.
