After eyeballing Orakpo, IT can vouch for the 6-4 height and would estimate him to be anywhere between 215-220 pounds of nothing but just solid muscle. Kid is ripped.
"I'd like to be carrying 230-235 pounds of good weight when I get to college," Lamar's DE stud said. "No fattening weight. I'm not going to add weight for the sake of adding weight, I want to keep my quickness."
And he certainly has some of that.
When asked if he really ran the 4.5 being thrown around, Orakpo told IT, "Actually, we just tested and my best time was a 4.53."
4.55 average forty time would make him the fastest DE prospect in the Lone Star State, if not the country.
"They (Lamar coaches) don't really do that," Orakpo said. "But I probably had 12, 13 or 14 sacks for the year."
He must have done something right because he grabbed a spot on the 1st-team all-district squad as a junior.
Claiming a 37-inch vertical, Orakpo also said he has a 290-pound bench and a 400-pound squat.
"Basically, the thing I need to improve is my strength," District 18-5A's best pass rusher said. "I need to get a little stronger, but that's about it."
Orakpo said in addition to working harder in the weight room, he'll continue working on pass rushing techniques and added, "I want to get even quicker."
Classroom: 3.5 GPA
SAT/ACT: "I'm going take the SAT the beginning of summer and hope to get it done then," Lamar standout DE said. "I know I need it and want to go ahead and get it out of the way."
Scholarship Offers: At this point, Orakpo has yet to garner a 'ship offer, but that'll change as Fed Ex packages should begin filling his mailbox.
"Notre Dame is recruiting me harder than anyone else," Orakpo revealed. "But UT, A&M, Wisconsin, Iowa State and U of H are coming after me pretty hard too. I'm getting a lot more attention from those schools than anybody else."
"I'm actually getting letters from a lot of schools, but those schools are showing me the most interest right now," Orakpo added.
An early top five?
"Well, I'm definitely open and will consider the schools that offer me more than any other," Orakpo said. "But I would have to say, Texas, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Iowa State and Oklahoma".
We'll have even more on Orakpo in this week's edition of the Inside Scoop.
