Junior report: Texas High RB Kory Sutton

IT caught up with Texarkana Texas High head coach Barry Norton to grab some details on his do-it-all tailback Kory Sutton.

"Kory's a 5-8/5-9 back, weighs about 185 pounds and can run a 4.47," Norton told IT.

Weightroom numbers?

"He can bench 300, incline 285, squat 350 and (power) clean 250," the Texas High head man said.

Sophomore Stats?

"168 carries, 936 yards for a 5.6 average per-carry and 9 TDs," Norton said. "Also had 16 catches, 161 yards for a 10.1 average-per reception and 1 TD."

Junior Stats?

"260 carries, 2,012 yards for a 7.7 average per-carry and 20 TDs," Norton said. "Also caught 18 balls, 231 yards for a 12.8 average per-reception and 4 TDs."

Junior stats as a kickoff return man: "9 returns, 278 yards, a long of 95 yards for a TD," Norton said.

An outstanding 30.8 yards per kickoff return darn sure doesn't hurt Sutton's stock at all.

Accolades: "Sutton was the offensive MVP of district 13-4A. Also landed all-state, all-area, all-district awards as a tailback," Norton said.

Sutton also participates in track, recording a 10.81 100-meter time. And he runs the first leg of the sprint-relay.

"Oklahoma and Texas Tech have shown the most interest," Norton said. "But he's getting a lot of mail from other schools as well."

Camp Agenda?

"Well, last year he was going to go to the Texas summer camp with Nathan Jones but was ill so he never made it," Norton explained. "I'm sure he'll attend a few camps this year."

Grades?

Kid blew up the ACT with a score of 25.

We'll have a little more on Sutton in this week's installment of the Inside Scoop.
