With Texas junior day fast approaching and focuses being shifted to the 2012 class, Denton Ryan linebacker Alex De La Torre's recruitment might be coming closer to an end.

"Nothing new except that I got an invite to Texas junior day," said De La Torre. "It would be an honor if they were to offer, and it would definitely take a toll on my recruitment. It's definitely something I should take in if it were to potentially happen.

"It's something for me to consider. But if all goes well on the trip, it just might be the time to commit. I've met most of the new coaching staff and I like what they bring to the table."

De La Torre played a huge role in Denton Ryan's 15-1 season. The linebacker had 130 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups.

The 2012 prospect doesn't have any other junior days planned at this point, but he has been invited to Iowa, Texas A&M, Auburn, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma.

De La Torre plays alongside 5-star defensive end Mario Edwards, who is expected to be considered a Texas prospect and one of the nation's top players in the 2011 class.
