Neroes Confirms Texas Jr. Day Invite

Garland linebacker Damien Neroes recruitment is starting to take off. After an Oklahoma junior day, where he felt things went so well an offer could be coming, Neroes received an invite to Austin for the Longhorns' junior day. Come inside for the details.

When you watch 6-foot-1, 215 pound Garland linebacker Damien Neroes, there is no doubt that he is one of the best in the state. But is he good enough for that lustrous Texas junior day offer? We will find out in a few weeks as the 2012 prospect confirmed with that he did receive a Texas junior day invite.

"It's a huge honor for me to get an invite to Austin. I have always been a Longhorn fan, so I really think it's sort of a blessing," said Neroes. "Texas A&M is this weekend, I'm supposed to be going to Houston's I guess in two weeks, and I'm going to Texas in February.

"It would be shocking to me if I got an offer, but I don't think I could make my decision just then. But at the same time you never know. You have to get into that situation first."

Currently Neroes is hearing from Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Iowa State, and LSU. He recently attended Oklahoma's junior day and feels the Sooners could be on the verge of offering.

"It was really neat to see how they presented themselves as a program. I really liked it up there," said the linebacker. I feel like Oklahoma and Texas A&M are getting close in a way to offering me.

"Most schools are recruiting me as a linebacker. I'm not sure about Texas. I'm just starting to hear from them and get information. I mostly played defensive end and outside linebacker last year."

So what is Neroes looking for in a school?

"I'm looking for a place where they have great academics in my major. I also don't want to be to far away from home. I really want to be close to home."

The junior describes himself as a player that gives 100% "every play, every down, and every practice."

Recently he has run a 4.7 electric forty time and a 4.45 hand forty time.

Stay with as we continue to monitor potential Texas junior day offers.
