If Connor Brewer stays true to his word and vows to be Texas' biggest recruiter in the 2012 class, he might want to start with Austin High's Cayleb Jones. Once thought of as no-brainer when it came to Texas being his destination, the junior is at least trying to keep the suspense level high.
"That's tight," said Jones when hearing from Scout.com that Brewer had committed. "I hadn't heard, but he told me he was going to."
Many fans and experts who follow Texas recruiting have projected Jones to be a junior day commitment, but the 4-star receiver is downplaying the possibility.
"(Laughter) I don't know. I'm taking it day-by-day and am not not planning a decision any time soon," said Jones. "I'm still wide open and don't have plans to commit on Texas junior day.
Missing two games due to injury last season, Jones still managed 62 catches for 797 yards and five-touchdowns in 2010.
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound wide receiver has received offers from Oklahoma, Baylor, Miami, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, among others. While LonghornDigest.com can't confirm right now that Jones has an official verbal offer from Texas, he is expected to get or have it by Texas junior day.
The junior has said in previous Scout.com stories he would like to take some visits this spring, including a trip to Oklahoma.
