Texas Adds Linebacker

Texas added to its linebacker depth Tuesday when a former signee was given clearance to join the team.

Tevin Jackson, rated as the No. 9 linebacker in the class of 2010 by Scout.com, was one of the first players to commit in his class, giving Texas his commitment on Feb. 8 of his junior year.

But it took a lot longer for Jackson to make his way to Austin. The NCAA Clearinghouse initially ruled the linebacker ineligible because of a class he took. Tuesday, Jackson's class was approved and he was given clearance to join the Texas program.

The decision helps Texas's depth at linebacker, a need position. The interesting issue now becomes how Texas gets its scholarships down. Jackson makes 87 scholarships for the 2011 season.
