Riser Makes No. 5

DeSoto HS (TX) head coach Claude Mathis has informed LonghornDigest.com that offensive lineman Curtis Riser has committed to Texas, giving the Longhorns five commitments in the 2012 class.

LonghornDigest.com has learned from DeSoto HS (TX) head coach Claude Mathis that 3-star offensive lineman Curtis Riser has committed to Texas.

"He did commit earlier today" said Mathis. "He is forwarding all of his calls to me. His mom and him are driving back and talking about his decision."

The 6-foot-5, 280 pound junior has been hearing from schools all over the country, including LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

"I would describe Curtis as a very nasty player. A player that doesn't like to beat. He really takes care of business," said Mathis. "He's very quick and has a great spin move. He gets in and out of his stance well. He wants to pin you every time to the ground. He is just a nasty player. He could already be the best DeSoto offensive lineman ever."

For the second straight year, Texas has received a commitment from a DeSoto offensive lineman, snagging Marcus Hutchins in the 2011 class.

Out of respect for Riser and his family, LonghornDigest.com will be electing to not call the junior tonight, but should have more on him early this week.
