"I committed today to Texas," said Ridgeway to Scout.com. "I just felt comfortable with the school and the coaching staff. The facilities were also really nice. I felt that it was the right place for me overall.
"I was still undecided before and after junior day. I had to really think about it for a second and after I looked back on it, I just thought that it was the best fit for me."
"It's a big blessing to have it out of the way. I'm just happy that I don't have to keep going with my recruitment or wait until next year," said Ridgeway. "It was one of my goals this year, to get it out of the way before next season, so I could just focus on my senior year. Now I have it out of the way before the spring. I can focus on getting better."
Ridgeway calls himself an all around defensive end, but the 2012 3-star prospect is best when he chasing quarterbacks in the pocket. Texas has assured the Mansfield product that if he "works hard", he will fit nicely into their defensive system.
The junior defensive end is the Longhorns sixth commitment in the 2012 class, all of them coming in the past week.
"Last season wasn't a big deal for me at all. It's Texas. It's going to happen every once in a while. Every team does it, no matter who you are. You are going to have a fluke or hard seasons. It wasn't a big deal to me at all."
