The announced crowd total for the Sooner spring game was 40,500 with the ESPN Gameday crew in tow. Had to be a little attractive to some of the standout recruits in attendance.
"Really liked the city (Norman), the players they have and the opportunity to come down with one of my teammates (Waco WR Tory DeGrate, who also has a scholarship offer from OU)," Walker told IT. "Just had a great time."
With Oklahoma being light on DBs the "early" playing time is something Walker took from the trip.
"I feel like that's something they offer me and something I might look to do," the state's top corner said.
"I spoke with Coach Mike Stoops -- who's kind of like Coach Stanley (Waco DB coach) -- and he explained the different defenses they like to run and showed me how they could really use me," one of the top five overall athletes at the U.S. Army Combine said.
OU head man Bob Stoops also got some face-time with Walker.
"He's a young guy, he's energetic...he's cool," the highly regarded DB said of the Sooner head coach.
"Well, I've been friends with Vince for a while and stayed with him so you know I liked that," Walker said. "And I thought Tommie and I got along really well, like we had been knowing each other for a long time. He's just cool. Real cool."
Having said in our last update that an opportunity to play with teammate DeGrate together at OU wouldn't be enough to necessarily put the Sooners ahead of Texas, Walker had this to say about that same scenario: "It definitely means something to me. Tory and I have talked a lot about going to the same school together. That would be cool to do. But I'm going to take my time and take my trips. I want to make sure I do the right thing for me and so does Tory."
