June 5 Camp Preview

June 5 marks the first of two consecutive Sunday camps that the Longhorns will hold for high school targets. Here are five players to watch.

1) Kennedy Estelle, OT, Pearland Dawson

Michael Starts' decision to play defensive tackle at Texas Tech makes Estelle arguably the most important target left on the Longhorn board. At 6-foot-7 and 305 pounds, Estelle has the kind of frame and athleticism coaches dream about at offensive tackle, though he's still somewhat raw. Sunday should serve as a chance for the Texas coaches to pull the full press on the talented tackle prospect.

2) Torshiro Davis, DE/OLB, Woodlawn (La.)

Davis is one of the best pass rushers left for the Longhorns, and getting the LSU commitment to visit Austin for camp can only be seen as a positive sign. He needs to add weight to be a full-time defensive end, though Davis is probably only 20 or so pounds away from being able to rush the passer on a situational basis. Neither Hassan Ridgeway, nor Caleb Bluiett is a pure pass rusher off the edge, so Davis is a key recruit.

3) Greg Brantley, OG, Carthage

The aforementioned Starts decision could open a potential offer for Brantley, a massive lineman from Carthage. Brantley is already 6-6 305, and though his body could use some work, he has the size to develop into a nice-looking prospect. Longhorn coaches will get the chance to coach him up a bit, and if they like what they see, an offer could be coming.

4) Danielle Hunter, DE, Katy Morton Ranch

Hunter isn't expected to be in attendance, though he has an offer to either camp. And that's why he's on this list. At 6-4 220, Hunter has a great frame to build on, and he has the athletic measurables to suggest a sizable upside. If he makes it to Austin, he could find himself with a Texas offer. But if he doesn't make the trip, it's hard to see Texas extending its courtesy.

5) Jalen Mills, CB, DeSoto

San Antonio Brandeis defensive back Colin Blake might be the most likely in-state defensive back to earn an offer, but at last glance, he wasn't expected to make it in. His loss is Mills' opportunity. The Longhorns are looking to add another defensive back, and Mills has great size at 6-0 180, and nice athleticism to boot. Justin Thomas of West Orange-Stark will also be competing for a defensive back offer.
