Texas Releases Non-Con Schedule

One of the compliments people typically pay Texas coach Rick Barnes is that the Longhorns aren't afraid of competition. And that saying will definitely hold true again in the 2011-2012 basketball season.

The Longhorns will travel to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina, many prognosticators' pick for the No. 1 team in the country. That game is the only one with time and television set, with the Longhorns playing UNC at 6 p.m. Dec. 21 on ESPN2. Other tip times and the complete television schedule will be announced at a later date.

That trip will come immediately after hosting Temple, and just a few games after traveling to Los Angeles to take on perennial power UCLA. The UCLA game will take place at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, as Pauley Pavilion is unavailable because of renovations.

Most of the rest of the non-conference schedule is manageable, though the Longhorns could face a challenge in the semifinal and championship rounds of the Legends Classic. Texas will start off the classic with games against Boston University and Rhode Island, with the Longhorns moving on to likely play two of North Carolina State, Oregon State and Vanderbilt in the championship rounds. Those games will be played at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
