Wall-to-Wall Nike Camp Coverage Coming Monday

Starting Monday, Inside Texas plans to provide unparalleled coverage of this weekend's College Station Nike Camp.

No UT publication but Inside Texas will have official access to the players at the event and no UT publication but Inside Texas will have the official testing data, so our subscribers will get the absolute best information and evaluation on the prospects in attendance. And the list of attendees is an awesome one, with many of the state's top athletes showing off their stuff.

The Nike Camp offers a unique opportunity to assess the skills of athletes vs. their peers in side-by-side action and our evaluations from College Station will play an important part in our Texas Top 100 update scheduled for the middle of this month. It's almost guaranteed that the Nike Camp will uncover new prospects for the rankings and will precipitate changes in the rankings of some of the players already on the list.

Also, don't forgot our network-wide coverage of the event, much of which will be available in our Hot News module at the top of the page. Long story short, next week will be the start of an exciting time here at IT, with the Nike Camp coverage and the refinement of our Inside Scoop feature.

Over the last several Scoops, we've deviated a bit from our original Scoop plan. Initially, the Scoop was -- as we announced upon launching the feature -- to be a "place where we can provide you, the InsideTexas.com subscriber, exclusive recruiting information that we don't want to provide in our main website articles (which subscribers from across the entire network can access)." Since then, we've broadened the scope of the Scoop to at times include info on UT's football, basketball and baseball teams rather than just on recruiting. But we've also allowed the Scoop to become sort of a weekly catch-all for our recruiting coverage, which has had a negative effect on our daily recruiting coverage. That changed, beginning with the release of the May 1 Scoop.

Although we plan to continue to produce the Inside Scoop on a weekly basis, we also plan to focus on information that is best kept in a Members Only forum (or that simply doesn't fit well into our main web site story format). What changes should you expect? Aside from the change in focus, the Scoops are likely to be a bit shorter with the material more concise. But that will be more than offset by the increase in daily recruiting story volume at the main web site. Basically, you'll get more recruiting stories throughout the week and you'll get recruiting news quicker, along with continuing to receive the more sensitive info, analysis and commentary once a week in the Scoop.

Also beginning next week, in a partnership with Athlon Sports, we will introduce a daily countdown of the Top 25 football teams in the country. And to top it all, we've added a great new promo: we'll throw in a subscription to The Sporting News with every new subscription and resubscription to the InsideTexas.com Total Access Pass!

So after this slow weekend of transition (aside from Hot News, the site won't be updated from Friday afternoon till Sunday evening, although the message boards will still be active), we will be back and better than ever on Monday. Be sure to join us.
