Counting Down the Big 12's Top Players

One-by-one, we're counting down the Big 12's top players. At No. 8 is massive Iowa State offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele.

8) Kelechi Osemele, OL, Iowa State

At 6-foot-6 and 347 pounds, Kelechi Osemele is one of the Big 12's biggest linemen. He also happens to be the arguably the league's best.

Osemele was somewhat under-recruited out of Houston Langham Creek High School, but it didn't take long for him to find his mark at %%MATCH_42%% State. After redshirting his first year, he played in every game as a redshirt freshman, starting five. His sophomore year saw him not only grab a consistent spot in the starting lineup, but also take his place among the conference's best, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.

He dropped to an honorable mention pick a year ago, but that might have had more to do with Iowa State slipping from his sophomore year. On the hoof, he's a massive, pounding run blocker with long arms who projects as a first-round draft pick.

And in a league that's stacked with talent, that's more than most can say. If Iowa State struggles again, don't be shocked if his postseason honors suffer again. Regardless, if you allowed coaches to draft from the Big 12's top linemen, Osemele would certainly be one of the first ones taken.
