Recruiting Capsule: Defensive Ends

Texas has commitments from a pair of nice-looking end prospects, but the Longhorns are far from finished at the position.

2012 Roster Shape

Dravannti Johnson (senior), Alex Okafor (senior), Jackson Jeffcoat (junior), Reggie Wilson (junior) Cedric Reed (sophomore)

2012 Commitments

Caleb Bluiett, Beaumont West Brook; Hassan Ridgeway, Mansfield

2012 Outlook: In Pursuit

Arguably the top targets left on the Longhorn board are at this position. Arik Armstead, the No. 1 overall prospect, wants to start off his career at defensive end, where he's a high-level combination of speed and athleticism. Javonte Magee is another player with an elite size/agility combination. But the biggest target might be Louisiana product Torshiro Davis, who combines a 4.56 electronic 40-yard dash with the natural instincts to get to the quarterback. He's everything that Manny Diaz looks for out of a defensive end, and could even slide out to outside linebacker if needed.
