2012 Outlook: In The Market

The Longhorns didn't appear that they were going to take a safety in the 2012 class, but then two things happened. First, Nolan Brewster stepped down because of injuries. And then Vaccaro went out and started having the season of a first-day draft pick. That means that Texas could return just three safeties next year, and while position changes could be in store to beef up the position a bit, the Longhorns' pursuit of out-of-stater Landon Collins and Mineral Wells safety Adrian Colbert shows that the staff is looking to add at least one safety in this group. Both are visiting Dec. 9. Colbert is a late-bloomer who appears interested in what the Longhorns have to say. Collins is one of the top remaining prizes in the Class of 2012, an elite-level athlete who could be a do-it-all safety And Kevin Vaccaro of Brownwood has received a grayshirt offer.
