Texas Offers In-State Defender

Earlier this week, Texas extended an offer to a Lone Star state linebacker. And now, there's another offer out to an in-state defender.

Bryce Cottrell, the No. 50 defensive end in the class according to Scout.com, received an offer from the Longhorns on Tuesday. Cottrell is an Oregon commitment. The Plano West standout had more than 80 tackles and five sacks in his senior season. If Texas were to somehow lure Cottrell away from his Oregon commitment, he would become the third defensive end addition to a class that already includes Hassan Ridgeway and Caleb Bluiett.

Cottrell originally picked Oregon over a bevy of other offers, including Arkansas and USC, while schools like LSU showed interest early in the process. Cottrell has been vetted at both outside linebacker and defensive end.
