JD2 Preview: Tight Ends

Saturday, Texas hosts JD2, and LonghornDigest.com will review each position group expected to be on campus for the event. Up now, the tight ends.

Jeremiah Gaines, Red Oak

Gaines is one of the top receiving tight ends in the in-state class, an H-back type who can get stretch the seams of a defense. In fact, for Red Oak he often plays a straight wide receiver position, and he consistently makes big plays on post and go routes. He's an excellent athlete for his size, and could project to linebacker as well.

Trent Gow, Mansfield

If the Longhorns offer Gow, they'll be going a totally different direction than with Gaines. Don't get me wrong: Gow can get open and catch the ball. But he's more of an in-line tight end who lines up and blows his opponent off the ball. While Gaines captures the imagination with his receiving skills, Gow does the same with the way he dominates the guy opposite him.
