Five Longhorns Among Army Roster Selections

Neither roster is finalized, but it appears that Texas fans will be able to stay close to home for their January all-star game travels.

The roster for the U.S. Army All-American Game (held in San Antonio) was released earlier this week, with five Texas commits listed. That includes four offensive players: quarterback Tyrone Swoopes, wide receivers Ricky Seals-Jones and Jake Oliver and offensive tackle Kent Perkins. The lone defensive player at this point is linebacker Deoundrei Davis.

Texas recruit Justin Manning is also listed as part of the event. The only other Lone Star State prospect is Texas A&M commitment Derrick Griffin.

The UnderArmour rosters have also been released, and include just one Texas commitment in Darius James. Last year, the situations were reversed, with a whopping 10 Texas commitments taking part in the UnderArmour game.

I wouldn't necessarily expect this to be the final say on those rosters, as some elite prospects — including Texas commitments Jake Raulerson and A'Shawn Robinson — have yet to be tapped for either game, and that should change.
