White Elects to Transfer

Texas cornerback A.J. White announced his transfer Friday, making him the second Longhorn cornerback to leave the team after the end of spring practice.

"I decided to transfer because I felt like I needed toget a new start," White said. "I want to give thanks to Coach [Duane] Akina and Coach [Mack] Brown for everything they've done for me here. Texas is a great school and a great program, and I appreciate everyone in the program and the time I've had here, but I just felt like I needed a change and a fresh start."

White played in 17 games during his two seasons at Texas, playing 11 last year as a sophomore. He recorded nine career tackles. One of the Longhorns' many DeSoto products, White was an early enrollee in January 2010.

Cornerback Eryon Barnett was the first cornerback to leave post-spring practice.

"While we hate to see anyone leave, we understand A.J.'s decision and will support him in any way we can," Brown said. "We appreciate what he's done for the program and wish him luck in the future."
