Walk-On to the NFL

Once a walk-on, now an NFL player: former Texas fullback Jamison Berryhill has inked a free agent contact with the Baltimore Ravens.

Berryhill was actually awarded a scholarship before his junior year after beginning his career as a walk-on. He was named a game captain against Iowa State, Kansas and Texas Tech.

"Jamison Berryhill was one of the best leaders on our team," said Texas coach Mack Brown. "He was the outstanding point-getter for our special teams and was also an outstanding fullback. So I fully expect him to be playing on an NFL team next fall."

Berryhill played in 34 games as a fullback and ace special-teamer, making 16 special teams tackles and recovering a fumble in his career. He played in all 13 games in 2011, making seven tackles, and earned one of Texas's Frank Denius Most Valuable Special Teams Player Awards.

Berryhill saw action in all 12 games in 2010, making eight stops.
