Longhorns Land No. 15

Texas adds a blocking tight end to the 2013 recruiting class.

We've been reporting for quite awhile that Texas has been looking to the JUCO route for a second tight end to pair with high-school commitment Durham Smythe.

And Tuesday, the Longhorns landed just that player in Butte Community College tight end Geoff Swaim.

Swaim fills a different role than Smythe in that while Smythe is known for his receiving skills, Swaim is an outstanding blocker, and somebody who can make blocks from a variety of positions, as a tight end, a fullback or an H-back. Butte uses the 255-pound Swaim as an in-motion blocker, something that fits well in Texas offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin's system.

Swaim visited Texas on Tuesday and received an offer from the Longhorn coaching staff. From there, it was a quick decision to join up with the Texas class of 2013.
