Brown Talks Playoffs

Tuesday, university presidents approved a four-team playoff that will start in 2014.

Texas coach Mack Brown, who said recently that he would rather see more work put into finding the right No. 1-2 than having a playoff, responded to the news.

"DeLoss Dodds has been at the forefront of these discussions for years, and we're so fortunate to have a president like Bill Powers in the room who supports us and plays a major role in such a significant event," Brown said. "I will defer to him to speak on behalf of The University, but I will say it's an exciting time to be involved in college football. There's more interest and discussion than ever before, and that's a great thing for our sport. We've all wanted to see improvements to the system we had, and in my opinion, we're headed in the right direction.

"We have some very smart people in place working out the details, and I'm really excited about the future. I'm thrilled the bowl system will be a part of this and remain in place because that is such an important part of the history of our game and a wonderful experience for the kids."
