Specht Sizes Up Alec Abeln

Team USA U-19 coach Steve Specht talks about Missouri commitment Alec Abeln.

Many times, in competitions like the IFAF U-19 World Championships held in Austin, coaches swap around players to build competition. But Missouri center commitment Alec Abeln held down the starting center job pretty much from the second he arrived.

Team USA U-19 coach Steve Specht talks about what makes Abeln so special.

"He's smart. He's just very intelligent," Specht said. "He's what you want at center. He gets it. He can identify the defenses, move guys around, and he's a tough kid. He's just a tough, tough kid. You look at Ethan and Hunter at 6-7, and you kind of lose sight of a young guy like Alec Abeln. But Alec's every bit of 6-4. He's going to be a kid when they get into the weight room, as smart as he is, and as hard as he plays, he'll be just fine."
