2014 Recruiting: Fullbacks

Texas pulled in a bruising and versatile fullback in 2014. What does the position look like now?

Expected FBs on the 2014 roster: Chet Moss, Alex De La Torre

Needs: One. Moss will be a senior in 2014, and Texas likes to keep three or so on roster anyway.

2014s Committed: Daniel Gresham, Fort Worth All Saints

Prognosis: The current Texas roster is stocked with linebackers turned fullbacks, and while Gresham will play some linebacker for All Saints, he's an offensive guy first. Some compare him to Joe Bergeron because of his balance and physical running style. I don't know that he's as explosive as Bergeron is. But he's a fullback prospect who brings the whole package: a nasty blocker, somebody who can run well with the ball, and he can even catch the ball out of the backfield a little bit. It doesn't appear that Texas is targeting anybody at fullback in the 2013 class, so Gresham may be the next chance the Longhorns get to address the position. If, for whatever reason, the Longhorns decide to go for a second fullback, keep your eye on other linebacker prospects. At this point, the state's second-best fullback might be Cedar Park's Thomas Middleton.
