Schlottmann Visits Texas

Brenham offensive tackle Austin Schlottmann talks about his recent Texas visit.

Though Texas fell 20-13 to visiting TCU last Thursday, at least one top 2014 prospect came away impressed.

"It was a great atmosphere," said Austin Schlottmann, Brenham offensive tackle.

Schlottmann attended the game with Brenham teammates Darrion Johnson, Tyler Watts, Erik Yeager, Walter Thomas, Desmond Lockett, Justin Davis, and Jamichael Adams. Johnson, in particular, is a high-priority Longhorn recruit.

"I didn't really get a chance to talk to any coaches," Schlottmann said. "But coach [Oscar] Giles said thanks for coming."

Schlottmann, who received a late invite from the Texas staff to attend the game, has emerged as one of the top offensive line prospects in the state for 2014, a bull of a right tackle.

"I'm still pretty open-minded, but I've been hearing from quite a few schools," Schlottmann said.

That list includes Texas, TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Boise State, Arkansas, Minnesota and Louisiana Lafayette, though he's received mail from even more schools.

Schlottmann next plans to visit the Longhorns' Thanksgiving night opponent, TCU. He's planning to head over to watch the Horned Frogs take on Oklahoma on Saturday.
