UT Arlington (3-1) at Texas (4-2)

G Shaquille White-Miller, Jr., 5-9 176 — 4.5 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 4.3 assists per game

G Karol Gruszecki, Sr., 6-5 200 — 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists

F Kevin Butler, Sr., 6-5 214 — 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists

F Brandon Edwards, Jr., 6-6 224 — 7.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks

C Jordan Reves, Sr., 6-10 240 — 9.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks

* Get beyond the starting lineup, and UTA shrinks considerably. While the Mavericks have four players 6-5 or taller among the starters, there are just two on the bench, 6-5 forward Greg Gainey and 6-6 forward Deon Rodgers, with the 250-pound Rodgers rarely seeing the court. Gainey (7.8 points per game) and 6-3 guard Jamel Outler (8.8) provide some extra scoring pop off the bench.

* UT Arlington has been pretty hot of late, going 23-5 in its last 28 games, including road wins this season at Cal State Bakersfield, at Samford and at North Texas. The last of those was particularly impressive, with the Mavericks coasting by 13 points. Gruszecki had a career-high 17 points while the defense held North Texas to 31 percent shooting and five field goals in the second half. As a team, UTA is among the nation's best in field goal percentage defense.

* The Mavericks' only loss came courtesy of Texas rival Oklahoma. It was a close game, with the Sooners prevailing 63-59 while shooting just 32.8 percent from the field. All-time, the Mavericks are 5-63 against teams currently in the Big 12, with three wins coming against TCU. But UTA hasn't beaten a current Big 12 team since defeating Oklahoma State 69-58 in 1987, going 0-27 since. After the Mavericks play Texas, they will head north to face the Cowboys on Dec. 19.
