Offer finally in

It's an offer Longhorns fans have been waiting to be extended for some time. It finally was on Thursday night.

LonghornDigest broke the news that four-star running back Ronald Jones (McKinney, Texas/North) called Texas head coach Charlie Strong minutes ago and received an offer. It is his 26th offer.

"It's great," Jones said. "You know it's UT. I grew up watching Vince Young and Jamaal Charles so it's exciting."

Jones, the No. 10 RB in the country, ran for 2,406 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2013.

Strong has been methodical in handing out offers since he arrived in Austin, but there was some head-scratching going on as to why someone of Jones' caliber hadn't been one of his first priorities.

That's all awash now as he became the 11th RB Texas has offered in 2015. That includes Longhorns commitment Jordan Stevenson (Dallas Skyline).

"I'm not mad," he said. "I understand the big coaching staff change [is why it took so long]."

USC just offered earlier this week and storied programs like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M have already thrown their hats in the race.

A source close to Jones' recruitment said the conversation with Strong was positive and that Jones is sincerely interested in the Longhorns.

We'll keep a close eye on the developments with his recruiting. Stay tuned.
