Despite Saturday's 59-53 loss to Texas Tech, the Longhorns (22-9, 11-7 Big 12), garnered the No. 3 seed in next week's Big 12 Tournament. That means Texas will face No. 6 seed West Virginia (17-14, 9-9) in the quarterfinal round, slated for 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Texas swept its season series with West Virginia, claiming an 80-69 win in Morgantown and an 88-71 victory in Austin.
Should the Longhorns win, they would face the winner of No. 2 Oklahoma's game with either Baylor or TCU. That game would be played at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Big 12 Championship will be played at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Texas finished tied for third in the Big 12 with Iowa State, and won the second tie-breaker against the Cyclones. The two teams split in the season series, but Texas had a win over the league champs in Kansas.
