Mayden, a four-star defensive back, was offered during his visit to a Longhorns junior day on March 1. He's the cousin of former UT wide receiver and Olympian Marquise Goodwin.
Duvernay, a four-star WR, recently picked up his offer during his visit to Texas' spring game on Saturday. He already had offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Oregon State, San Diego State, TCU, Texas Tech, and Wisconsin.
HornsDigest.com caught up with Duvernay (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) to gauge his interest in Texas and get his thoughts on he and Mayden playing at the same school.
HD: What did getting that Texas offer mean to you?
DD: "It means a lot but I kind of expected it. So it wasn't that surprising."
HD: Had you spoken to the Longhorns that much prior to your visit?
DD: "Not really that much. I talked to them a few days before when they told me they wanted me to come down for the game."
HD: Why was the offer not that big of a surprise to you?
DD: "They basically said that they were going to offer if I made it down."
HD: Even though it was expected it has to feel good to get the offer from UT, no?
DD: "It means that I must be doing something right. I must be doing good I guess."
HD: What do you think it is that the Longhorns like in you?
DD: "My of the coaches have been saying that I compete and have good explosiveness and athleticism. I feel like I can be a deep threat, go up and get the ball, and be a possessions receiver too. Whatever the team needs."
HD: What did you like about your Texas visit?
DD: "I liked being able to see the offense to be able to see if I liked it and if I could see myself playing in it or not."
HD: Could you see yourself playing in that offense?
HD: Was their one receiver you were watching more than others?
DD: "Jaxon Shipley because he's a slot and I'm also a slot."
HD: Have you and Mayden talked about playing at the same school? Is that something you'd consider?
DD: "We haven't really talked about playing at the same school. We pretty much have the same offers but we haven't talked about it yet.
HD: I'm assuming you'll say you get the better of him on the practice field?
DD: "Oh yeah all the time."
