Jared Mayden Wanted by Texas

The Texas Longhorns and head coach Charlie Strong are off to a great start to the 2016 recruiting class. Four-star wide receiver Collin Johnson made an early pledge to the Longhorns. Might Jared Mayden find his way into the Texas class?

Cornerback Jared Mayden checks in at 6-foot, 190-pounds out of Sachse (TX) and has early offers from Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. He will be one of the most heavily recruited players regardless of position or state in next years class.

"Overall the recruiting process is going very good," Jared Mayden said. "The best part about it is going around and seeing the different schools with my friends and family. There has been quite a few schools that have come down, kind of hard to exactly know who is at all the practices but there's been a lot actually."

Mayden is a top target for defensive coordinator Vance Bedford and Charlie Strong. Mayden has visited Texas and is very comfortable around the coaching staff in particular coach Strong.

"Coach Strong is a very good man and knows how to turn the Texas football program around and that's exactly why he brought in a good staff with him," Mayden said.
