Catching up with P.J. Mbanasor

One of the top uncommitted corners in the country checks in from Pflugerville (TX) Hendrickson high school. His name is P.J. Mbanasor and at 6-foot-1 1/2, 179-pounds with 4.47 speed he is a wanted man.

P.J. Mbanasor is the No 21 ranked corner in the country. The four star defensive back holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Houston, Louisville, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU, Tennessee, Texas and Tulsa to name a few.

"Recruiting is going well," P.J. Mbanasor said. "My recruiting process won't be one that is elongated. This process is a blessing, I'm very fortunate."

Midlands recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks recently named Mbanasor one of the top eight defenders at the Dallas NFTC.

"An impressive day for one of the state's hottest recruits in recent weeks started with his measurement of 6-foot-1 1/2, 179 pounds and ended with an invitation to The Opening. Mbanasor displayed his elite size for the cornerback position and it obviously caught the attention of Nike's decision-makers."

Numerous schools are showing Mbanasor attention including Texas.

"Charlie Strong is a good man," Mbanasor said. "He has the potential to turn the program around."

Nebraska, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss have already visited. Take:

It is no surprise Mbanasor has become one of the most heavily recruited players in the area. He has a unique blend of skills that make him a desirable lock down corner prospect. Big-framed, but quick and plays low. Can sink his hips and turn. He has the size and strength to man up big-framed feature receivers. Plays with savvy and confidence, showing good hand-eye coordination. He just has a knack for getting a hand in to break up pass plays. Greg Powers.
