Over the next couple of days, Watson and the Longhorns will hold their first-ever Elite Quarterback Camp that will feature several of the top 2016 quarterbacks in the country.
When Shawn Watson has a QB camp, regardless of where he has been, it has been a big deal.
He attracts some of the top signal callers in America for a reason: He's had success at marquee schools such as Northwestern and Colorado under Gary Barnett; at Nebraska; and at Louisville the past four years.
Watson started doing an "Elite QB Camp" back when he was at Colorado and has carried it forward at his other stops - and now with the Longhorns.
Check out some of the kids who came through Louisville in last year's QB camp. Note that Reggie Bonnafon pulled the trigger for Louisville, and Gentry pulled the trigger for Texas. Pretty good indication your 2016 QB will attend this event folks.
Some other QBs who have attended this event in the past under Watson:
What does this mean for Texas fans moving forward? This year's group of QBs is as impressive as any group Watson has had at one time in camp.
Rowlett dual-threat QB Logan Bonner (2016) should arrive on campus around 11:30 am CT Monday
Cody Brewer of Corpus Christi Flour Bluff and Messiah deWeaver, of Trotwood (Ohio) Madison, both in the 2016 class, will also attend.
West Orange-Stark 2016 dual-threat QB Dillon Sterling-Cole, and Seth Green, a dual-threat QB from East Ridge (Minn.) in the 2016 class, are also expected to attend the three-day QB camp.
Marble Falls 2016 pro-style QB Brennen Wooten told me he will also arrive in Austin at 11:30 am CT on Monday.
Channelview 2016 dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts will arrive in Austin Monday afternoon with his father who is also his head coach.
Jalen Mayden, the younger brother of Jared Mayden, is just beginning high school and will gain great experience at such an early age under Watson.
Current Arizona commit Shea Patterson, who will attend a session on Tuesday, is expected in Austin on Monday.
Also keep an eye out for 2016 dual-threat QB Logan Byrd of Veterans (Georgia) and 2016 Mansfield dual-threat QB Devin Williams.
And 2017 dual-threat QB Shawn Robinson of Denton-Guyer, the heir apparent to Jerrod Heard at Guyer, will also be camping at Texas this week.
