QB Camp Attendees

Welcome to the Daily Dose, a daily collection of random musings surrounding Longhorns athletics and recruiting. Today we'll look at the quarterbacks that should be in town for Texas' Elite Quarterbacks Camp over the next couple of days.

Shea Patterson

Shreveport, La./Calvary Baptist

Class: 2016

Size: 6-2, 190

Low down:

Patterson is committed to Arizona but it's going to be tough for Rich Rodriguez and Co. to keep him there. The Wildcats were one of the first schools to offer him, he felt comfortable with the staff and his brother is a graduate assistant there. He's probably the clubhouse leader to get an offer this week, which would be one more to an already impressive list that includes Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, California, Clemson, Michigan, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, TCU, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Logan Bonner

Rowlett, Texas

Class: 2016

Size: 6-0, 200

Low down:

Bonner is a bit of a sleeper among the group of QBs expected to compete for top honors over the next few days. He doesn't have any offers yet but has made his presence known at UT a few times already. A teammate of 2015 UT DE commitment Charles Omenihu, Bonner started as a sophomore in 2013, throwing for 2,415 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He ran for 443 yards and eight touchdowns as well, helping Rowlett to a first-round playoff appearance.

Cody Brewer

Corpus Christi, Texas/Flower Bluff

Class: 2016

Size: 6-6, 175

Low down:

Brewer is a big body from an area that really doesn't receive all that much Division I attention, though he's a teammate of former UT CB commitment Jalen Campbell. Bonner completed 146-of-280 for 2,395 yards, 33 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2013.

Messiah deWeaver

Trotwood, OH/Trotwood-Madison

Class: 2016

Size: 6-3, 200

Low down:

You'll see that DeWeaver has an offer from Louisville. Well, it came from Charlie Strong and Shawn Watson before they moved to Texas. So the staff clearly knows what he's capable of doing. DeWeaver also holds offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Toledo, and Western Kentucky.

Seth Green

Woodbury, MN/East Ridge

Class: 2016

Size: 6-3, 200

Low down:

Green is a QB to keep an eye on when narrowing down those that could really be in line for an offer. A four-star prospect on Scout.com, Green has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Toledo, and Wisconsin. He's started for his varsity since his freshman season.

Dillon Sterling-Cole

Orange, Texas/West Orange-Stark

Class: 2016

Size: 6-3, 180

Low down:

Sterling-Cole is just scratching the surface with how good he could be. He comes from a program that the Longhorns have had success with in the past, most notably Super Bowl champion safety Earl Thomas. Texas A&M is a serious player for him and LSU is warming up.

Brennen Wooten

Marble Falls, Texas

Class: 2016

Size: 6-2, 185

Low down:

Wooten has visited Texas' campus several times in the past and this will be his first time throwing for the Longhorns staff. He already holds offers from Clemson, Kentucky, Akron, TCU, Tulsa, and Houston. He's also picked up interest from Baylor, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech.

Jalen Hurts

Channelview, Texas

Class: 2016

Size: 6-2, 180

Low down:

Houston and Mississippi State have shown great interest in Hurts, who will look to pick up an offer from UT this weekend. He's already taken visits to SEC programs.

Jalen Mayden

Sachse, Texas

Class: 2018

Size: 6-1, 180

Low down:

This is a name to keep in your back pocket for a year or two. Mayden, the youngest QB expected to attend the camp, is the younger brother of 2016 DB Jared Mayden, who is one of Texas' top targets for 2016.

Logan Byrd

Perry, Ga./Veterans

Class: 2016

Size: 6-3, 223

Low down:

A big-bodied, strong-armed recruit, Byrd already has offers from Duke, Illinois, Marshall, North Carolina State, North Carolina and Virginia.

Devin Williams

Mansfield, Texas/Timberview

Class: 2016

Size: 5-11, 170

Low down:

Williams doesn't have any offers yet but he's on the verge. Programs like Baylor and Nebraska are showing a ton of interest. He was actually just up in Lincoln, Neb., a few days ago.

Shawn Robinson

Denton, Texas/Guyer

Class: 2017

Size: 6-3, 180

Low down:

This is the recruit to watch this weekend. He could end up with an offer if he performs well. Robinson is a transfer from Saginaw (Texas) Chisholm Trail that will have to compete against an absolutely loaded group of QBs fighting to replace UT freshman Jerrod Heard. Robinson threw for 1,123 yards and 11 touchdowns while tossing seven interceptions. He also rushed for 624 yards and six scores in 2013.
