Williams on the West Coast

Scout.com caught up with Coppell (Texas) 2015 offensive tackle Connor Williams, who is on a West Coast road trip hitting multiple schools.

Connor Williams has seen his offer list explode during the past couple of months.

The Coppell (Texas) High School 2015 three-star offensive tackle prospect had a hand full of offers early in the spring, but now holds almost 30 offers.

Among those are multiple Pac-12 programs: Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, and UCLA, plus heavy interest from Stanford, which has yet to offer Williams.

So naturally, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound Williams decided to make a West Coast swing to see some of those schools. Williams said he hit UCLA from June 19-21, then traveled to Stanford, where he was until Tuesday morning. From there, he will continue trekking northward to Oregon.

Offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is recruiting Williams for UCLA, while quarterbacks/receivers coach Tavita Pritchard is recruiting Williams for Stanford. Williams added that offensive line coach Steve Greatwood and offensive assistant Joe Bernardi are recruiting him for Oregon.

"What I saw at both (UCLA and Stanford) I really liked," said Williams, who added that an illness put an early end to his Stanford visit.

Williams said the sickness prevented him from taking a tour of Stanford, but he got to take the tour at UCLA and enjoyed it, noting the Bruins' current facilities improvement project as a selling point. He also said he had a one-on-one with head coach Jim Mora.

"He gave me the football side and education side," Williams said. "He gave me a presentation and just talked about his goals and how it was. He gave me the truth on everything."

Williams said almost all schools, including UCLA and Stanford, like him at left tackle, but added, "Oregon wants me at center, I believe, though."

Williams got a Texas offer a few days ago and the Longhorns join Georgia and Ohio State as schools he expects to visit at some point. All three programs are among Williams' almost 30 offers. Offensive coordinator Joe Wickline is recruiting Williams for the Longhorns. Williams has already been on one unofficial visit to Texas in late April, as well as a trip to Arkansas a few days after that for the Hogs' spring game.

Scout ranks Williams as the No. 37 offensive tackle in the nation's 2015 class. He has been a rankings riser this spring after playing as a 6-foot-4 1/2, 255-pound tight end during his junior season at Coppell. Now bigger than ever, but with the same athleticism, Williams continues to get more and more attention as an offensive tackle, which is where he'll play this fall for Coppell, a perennially strong program in Texas' largest classification.
