Prospect Q&A: Madison Akamnonu

2015 four-star offensive tackle Madison Akamnonu will make his decision at the end of this month.

This strong run blocker has received offers from several Big 12 schools, including Texas, Texas Tech, OU, Baylor, and Kansas State.

We caught up with the Arlington (TX) Bowie High School standout to see where things stand with Texas.

What's your top three schools?

"Texas Tech, OU, and Texas."

Previously, Texas was not in your top three. What changed that made you include Texas in your top three?

"My former top three were Texas Tech, OU, and Missouri but I talked with my parents about Missouri and we decided that wouldn't be the best fit for me. I didn't feel like I would be able to show my whole potential at Missouri. Texas was cool. My mom always liked Texas but she had a problem with the one-year contract thing (scholarship.) But then the OU coach told us that the one-year contract thing is how all the schools do it. Then she was ok with Texas. She likes Texas and I like Texas.

What's your interest level in UT?

Did you attend the Under the Lights Camp at UT?

"No. I was invited but I was out of town that weekend. "

You unofficially visited OU in July. Have you visited any other schools?

"I went to a Texas Tech camp and then the visit to OU."

Any visits to Texas in the plans?

"No. There are no more visits to any schools before my decision. OU was the last visit."

What are your thoughts on the Texas coaches?

"The Texas coaches are pretty cool. I like coach (Joe) Wickline and how he sets up his offensive line. I Like how he blocks and just his whole scheme. It was simple to understand. The times I've talked to coach Strong he seemed like a pretty cool dude."

What factors are important to you in deciding which school to commit to?

"The atmosphere, the education, have a good relationship with my coaches and my teammates."

Have Texas coaches developed a relationship with you?

"Yes, I feel as though they have tried to develop a relationship with me."

What's a time table on your decision?

"I'm announcing on August 24th with a hat pick via twitter."
