Shane Buechele Talks Texas Opener

The Charlie Strong era is underway as the Longhorns secured a week one victory over visiting North Texas. Numerous top tier recruits were in attendance including four-star quarterback Shane Buechele. The 2016 standout made the trip with his brother and was not disappointed.

Shane Buechele is the No 18 ranked signal caller in the class of 2016. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound standout is from Arlington (TX) Lamar High School.

"It was fun," Buechele said. "The stadium is so big. I thought the team played great, offense played well and defense stopped them to less than 100 total yards. I didn't get to talk to coach [Shawn] Watson to much, he was out on the field; I talked to him after the game and just talked about the game and how they played."

Buechele was impressed with everything he saw on Saturday, but the stadium was a little overwhelming.

"The energy in that stadium is unbelievable," Buechele said. "With the fans, music and how many people are yelling and cheering is cool. Not sure what I am doing next week. Probably going to take a weekend off and kick it with my family. It's my dads first weekend back so we will probably be watching college football all day."
