Elijah Garcia A Name to Know

One player many college coaches from around the country will keep a close eye on over the next two seasons is defensive tackle Elijah Garcia. Garcia is a bit of an unknown now, but that will change very quickly. The San Antonio (TX) John Paul Stevens standout recently visited Austin as Texas hosted BYU.

Texas hosted numerous high school football players from the class of 2016 this past weekend. One of which was defensive tackle prospect Elijah Garcia. Garcia will be a name all recruiting fans will know over the next two year's.

"It was a great experience," Elijah Garcia said. "I got to see how fast the game is at the next level first hand; the best part of the trip was seeing all the awards and accolades that Texas has."

Garcia is very quick off the ball and plays with great pad leverage. I love the way he uses his hands and has tremendous pursuit down the line of scrimmage for a defensive tackle. He is very athletic and has a great frame that could easily hold another 20-25 pounds over the next three years. A very nice looking prospect at this stage of the game with plenty of upside.

"We play Clemens High School next," Garcia said. "We play at Gustafson stadium, and right now I am not sure about my next visit but I hope it is real soon."

Garcia checks in at 6-foot-5 ½ and 260-pounds. He has an interest from Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Texas.
